One of the best qualities in books is the level of escapism they give. There is nothing better than coming back home from a hard day, kick back with a book and forget all your troubles. Some books give you the ache, the wanting, the umbearable question: why can’t my life be like this? Well, you can’t fall into a book, but if you wish you could, where would you like to go?
Here are my favorite places in books, places I would love to live in.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Go check her website out!
Asgard in Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
I know it would probably be very dangerous, with troublesome gods like Loki and rabid beasts, but it is so beautiful I wouldn’t be able to resist. Do you imagine waking up to a sunrise between a golden palace and a rainbow bridge? Can’t think of anyhting better.
Ketterdam in Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Again, pretty dangerous choice, but with the crows for protection I don’t see how anything could go wrong.
France in My Contrary Mary by Cynthia Hard, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows
I’m really curious to see how life in Renaissance France was. I know I know, probably very dirty and smelly. I’m sure it was still chic.
Crema in Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman
This is a beautiful small town in Lombardy, and I don’t live too far from it right now. Maybe in a post COVID world I might go visit.
England in the world of Black Butler by Yana Toboso
How cool would it be to go on adventures with Ciel and Sebastian? Oh, Sebastian *swoons*.
That’s it!
What are you favorite places in books? Let me know!
I love your choices for this week! I think I’d be pretty damn terrified if I lived in Ketterdam though!

Oooh, Asgard! I agree it might be dangerous but it would be so stunning! Totally worth it. XD
As much as I love Six of Crows, I’m not sure I’d pick Ketterdam to live XD Maybe somewhere less chaotic and dark. Some place in Ravka or Novyi Zem (though I suppose ANYWHERE in the Grisha might be dangerous…)

I do seem to like living on the edge huh? I’m imagining that if I live in these places, I have enough powers and knowledge to survive. Of course, there are other books and other options, like a romantic cruise travelling the Mediterranean, I wouldn’t be mad at that.

That’s a GREAT point. I would hope if I lived in those places too I’d know the best options for survival. (I mean, the Dregs do and it seems like most Asgardians do too!)
hahaha yes to a romantic cruise!
