Weekly Wrap up # 2

Hello everybody!

I’m linking up to The Sunday Post, hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

This week has been rather uneventful when it comes to books. Next week is my last week of volunteering at the UN, so I had a lot of work to get done. This meant I didn’t have a lot of time to read. I did go to the movies with some friends though.

I watched Bohemian Rhapsody for the fifth time (I’m not kidding) and cried like it was the first time. Queen has been my favorite band since I was ten. This movie made me incredibly happy for several reasons. First Freddie is the love of my life. He was the sweetest man and there are lots of popular misconceptions about him. While the movie played with timelines a lot, it addressed many of those misconceptions, which I’m grateful for. Rami Malek and the rest of the cast were amazing. Sometimes I felt I was watching the actual members of the band. The LiveAid recreation was so incredible it gave me goosebumps. I thought they would alternate back and forth with the real LiveAid, but the way the handled it was beautiful too. Also, the movie became so popular that Queen got back to being the most heard around the world. How cool is that?

In other news, NaNoWriMo was over this week and I was able to reach 50k, which is great, but now I have to finish the story. Let us hope I have the time and inspiration to finish it soon.

Books I got via NetGalley this week:

I wished for this book on NetGalley knowing there was no way on Earth I would ever get it. When I saw the email saying I was going to get an e-copy, I thought there must be some sort of mistake. I am excited to read this book and I already know I will adore it.

How about you guys? Did you like Bohemian Rhapsody? Did you like Queen before the movie came out? DId you participate in NaNo this year? Are you planning to read a lot next week? Let me know!

Congrats on hitting 50k! Awesome. And I love Queen. I sooo need to see Bohemian Rhapsody- I keep getting their songs in my head lol.

    Have an amazing week 🙂

I love Queen! I really want to see the movie. I’ve seen almost every documentary about them, but this film looks amazing.

I really wished I was old enough (Actually, I wasn’t even born yet!) to see them in concert. If I could time travel I would definitely go to the LiveAid concert.

I wasn’t born either! I find that so incredible that people of our generations love them that much. If you know a lot about them I warn you that the movie got lots of things wrong and changed lots of other things (without any apparent reason) so you might not like that. But the essence of the band and Freddie is so well portrayed I think that’s what stuck with people in the end. Let me know your opinion once you watch it!

I don’t think I would mind too much as long as the acting and overall story sucked me in. 🙂

I have a meme and one of the participants talked about Bohemian Rhapsody and she said very similar things as you did about the movie, how well done it was and now I’ve really got to see it. I agree Queen has some magnificent music. ❤️ Congratulations on your NaNo win! That is so, so great. I never participate (too much pressure) but I know other bloggers who do and are quite successful because of it. Happy writing!

I hope your last week volunteering with the UN goes well. Yay for reaching 50k! That is quite an accomplishment. I have heard only good things about Bohemian Rhapsody, and am glad you enjoyed it. Maybe one of these days I will get to see it–although not likely until it is streaming on Netflix or something. I only get to see children’s movies in the theater these days. Haha. I hope you have a wonderful week!
